Define the terms

1. Landforms- The natural features of the earth like mountains, plateaus, and plains are called landforms.
2. Fertile- The land with rich soil that is good for growing crops is called fertile.
3. Desert- A large area of land covered with sand is called a desert.
4. Island- Is a piece of land surrounded by water on all sides called an island.

Ans. i) Thar desert gets very little rainfall.
ii) The climate is very hot and dry in the summers.
iii) The climate is cold in winters.
iv) This land is thickly covered with a layer of loose land.
3. What is a plateau? Write about the rivers of this region.
Ans. i) A plateau is a flat-topped surface that is raised above the surrounding land.
ii) This plateau region has many rivers. 
iii) Rivers like- Krishna, Godavari, Kaveri, and Mahanadi.
iv) These rivers depend on rains for water.
